London – President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Moscow on Wednesday before the expected conversations with Russian leadership, Russian state media reported.
Witkoff was received by Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Direct Investment Fund of Russia, at Vnukovo airport in the capital, according to state media agencies Tass and Interfax.
The visit is the fifth of Witkoff to Moscow since Trump assumed the position, with the special envoy to the avant -garde of the White House efforts to end the large -scale invasion of Ukraine of Russia, which began in February 2022.
A source familiar with Witkoff’s plans told ABC News on Tuesday that the special envoy is expected to celebrate meetings with Russian leadership on Wednesday.
Witkoff was the last in Moscow on April 25, when he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

Last month, Trump said he would impose additional economic measures, including secondary sanctions to Russian fossil fuel export clients, the largest of which are India and China, if Putin did not remember a stop the fire before August 8.

“Today we coordinate our positions: Ukraine and the United States,” Zelenskyy wrote in a position to X. “We exchange the evaluations of the situation: the Russians have intensified the brutality of their attacks. President Trump is completely informed about the Russian strikes on the Citarius and other cities and communities.”
On Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was open to more meetings with Witkoff. “The continuing dialogue and the United States continues its efforts to mediate in the search for a Ukrainian agreement,” he said, as cited by Tass.
“These efforts are very important, even in the context of the continuous process of Russian-Ukrainian direct negotiations,” said Peskov. “The work continues, and we continue to be committed to the idea that a political and diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian problem is, of course, our preferred option.”
