Trump indicates privately that Elon Musk could go back to the current role: Fuentes

President Donald Trump has indicated to the main advisors that Elon Musk could be step behind his current role in the administration, sources familiar with the matter to ABC News said.

The government uses Musk as a “special government employee”, which means that its appointment should not exceed 130 days. Its term would be at the end of May, but it was widely rumored that the White House could take measures to maintain or extend its work status in some way.

As ABC News has previously reported, Musk’s decision -making has divided Trump’s main assistants and sometimes has caused cracks among those closest to the president.

Some of Musk’s defenders at the White House warn that informing that Musk is being expelled is exaggerated, the sources said.

Trump is still satisfied with what Musk and his efficiency team from the government department have done with their reduction in costs throughout the government, despite the public reaction and in court, according to the sources.

Politico was the first to inform the news that Trump had told the main advisors that Musk would probably take a step back in his role in the coming weeks.

Trump publicly said on Monday that Musk will probably have to return and direct Tesla at some point. The president was specifically asked about the special time limit of government employees of 130 days.

“Well, I think it’s … incredible. But I also think he has a large company to run. And so, he will return to do it. He wants to do it.” Trump said.

ABC News previously reported that some White House officials who had frustrated Musk had renounced themselves that it is unlikely that the billionaire has reigned in the short term and, on the other hand, had focused on managing the situation as best they can until its special government contract reaches its end in May.

The White House Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, described the “garbage” politician report on a publication on Wednesday X.

“Elon Musk and President Trump have declared * publicly * that Elon will depart from the public service as a special government employee when his incredible work is completed in Dege,” Leavitt said.
