The senator of the State of Minnesota, Hoffman, accredits his daughter for 'saving innumerable other lives'

The senator of the State of Minnesota, John Hoffman, and his wife are accrediting his daughter the hope of “saving innumerable lives” on the night when the couple was shot and injured at home in what prosecutors called an attempt to murder.

“Without hope, we would not be here at this time,” said Democratic State Senator and his wife in a statement on Wednesday, according to Minneapolis ABC KSTP Affiliate. “The rapid instincts of our daughter and the means to affirm that his father is Senator John Hoffman when he called 911 led the police that arrived at Hortman so fast and saving innumerable other lives.”

Vance Boelter is accused of shooting and hurting John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at his home in Champlin, Minnesota, as well as shooting and killing state representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at home in the nearby Brooklyn park the early hours of Saturday, authorities said. Boelter supposedly appeared at its doors that a police officer was passed, the authorities said.

But two other legislators saved the night of the shootings, according to the US lawyer for the Minnesota Joseph District Joseph Thompson.

After Boelter supposedly shot the Hoffmans, the prosecutors said he led to the house of a state representative in Maple Grove. That legislator was not at home since she and her family were on vacation, said Thompson, and Boelter left the scene.

Boelter allegedly led to the house of a state senator in New Hope and parked on the street, said Thompson.

After learning about Hoffman’s house, New Hope police sent an officer to the New Hope legislator’s house, Thompson said. When the officer arrived, he saw the Boelter car parked by the block and believed that Boelter was an officer sent to the scene, Thompson said.

The officer stopped next to Boelter, rolled through his window and tried to talk to him, but did not respond and looked forward, Thompson said. Then, New Hope officer led to the house of the state senator and waited for other forces of the order, and at that time, Boelter had abandoned the scene, Thompson said.

After learning about the Hoffmans shooting, the officers were proactively sent to the Brooklyn Park’s house of his fellow legislator, former president of the Chamber of Representatives of Minnesota Melissa Hortman.

When two Brooklyn Park officers arrived at the Hortmans, they saw the Boelter SUV on the entrance path with emergency lights flashing and Boelter in front of the house, Thompson said.

Boelter saw the officers and supposedly began to shoot and run to the house, killing Melissa Hortman and her husband, said Thompson.

The officers shot Boelter when he supposedly hastened to the house, said Thompson, but the suspect escaped the house and went out of the back.

Boelter, who was arrested Sunday night, allegedly had a list of 45 elected officials in notebooks in his car, said Thompson.

It faces federal charges that include charges of harassment and firearms and state charges, including first degree murder, authorities said.

Hoffmans are recovering from their wounds. John Hoffman was shot nine times and Yvette received eight times, said Yvette, according to a message posted by the minnesota senator, Amy Klobuchar.
