A Virginia councilor was set on fire in an apparent personal attack on Wednesday, authorities said.
The suspect, Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, supposedly faced the councilor of the city of Danville, Lee Vogler, 38, in his office, in the Showcase magazine, and covered him with an flammable liquid, Danville’s police department said. Both left where you have allegedly fire Vogler, police said.

Vogler has been taken to a hospital in unknown conditions, police said. Showcase magazine said he suffered “serious burns injuries.”
Hayes, 29, from Danville, is in custody, police said. The suspect allegedly fled the scene and then was arrested by officers a few blocks away, police said.

It seems that Vogler and Hayes know each other “and the attack derives from a personal matter not related to the position of the victim in the City of Danville or any other political affiliation,” said the police.
Vogler, who was chosen for the City Council in 2012 at the age of 24, also works as sales director at Showcase, where he was attacked.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by this act of violence,” Showcase magazine said in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Lee and his family while receiving medical attention. The team of Showcase magazine is fully cooperating with the police as their investigation continues.”
