More than 500 law firm moved to present an Amicus letter on Friday in support of Perkins Coie’s demand against the executive order of the Trump administration that went to the firm about its representation of the 2016 campaign of Hillary Clinton.
“The executive order in question in this case, and the similar ones, point directly to several of the main firms of lawyers of the nation and seek to empty any other firm, large and small, to the presentation,” says the Amicus report.

“The imminent threat that represents the executive order in question in this case and the others as it is not lost in the law that practices the law in this country today: any controversial representation challenging the actions of the current administration (or even cause that is uncovered) now brings with it the risk of devastating reprisals,” the signatures said in the summary.
“Any short -term advantage that an administration can obtain by exercising power in this way, the rule of law cannot endure much in the climate of fear that such actions create,” they added.
The list of companies It has circulated for several weeks between the main law firms throughout the country, since they weighed if they were made public in support of Perkins Coie, or remain silent for the fear that they could be attacked below.
Until now, five companies have chosen to reduce agreements with the White House to avoid being attacked in a similar way, as announced by the White House.
Two law firms, Wilmerhal and Jenner and Block, joined Perkins Coie to file a lawsuit against the administration and obtained emergency orders from federal judges that temporarily exceed the application of executive orders with the argument that they were probably unconstitutional.
While multiple signatures of “great right” added their names to the list presented on Friday, perhaps the most notable are the names they did not sign.
Kirkland and Ellis, the largest American law firm for income, is not on the list, although the Wall Street Journal on Thursday reported He is in conversations with the White House to avoid being attacked. Nor is Latham and Watkins, the second largest company for income, nor any of the other 10 main companies for income classifications.
