A 10 -year -old boy was shot and seriously injured in Houston, Texas, on August 30, 2025, after allegedly hitting the door of a neighbor in what the police believe it was part of a joke of the social networks of trend known as the “Due kick challenge,” the authorities said.

The injured boy, who was committing the joke with friends, was treated at the scene by the Houston Fire Department and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was in critical condition on Sunday afternoon, said Awosiyan.
The investigation continued on Sunday, but the police did not publish additional details.
The supposedly committed joke in Houston is similar to what is called the “door kick challenge”, a national trend based on an old joke called “Ding Dong Ditch”, in which groups of children record videos of themselves kicking and hitting household doors and apartments before fleeing and then publishing the videos on the platforms of social networks such as Tiktok.
In July, a 58 -year -old Texas owner was arrested and accused of aggravated assault when he allegedly fired multiple rounds to a vehicle fleeing his house after someone hit the main door in Frisco, Texas, according to a statement from the Frisco Police Department.
The driver of the car who was shot at 10:50 pm on July 28 and two passengers contacted the police to file a complaint, showing the officers three bullet holes in the vehicle, according to the police.
“However, during later interviews, they all admitted Ding, Dong, abandoning themselves in a random neighborhood when they were confronted by a man with a firearm,” said the Frisco police in a statement.
In June, the Police in Chandler, Arizona, published video images of a group of minors who committed the “door kick challenge”, claiming that the group took the joke in the same house at least 18 times, which led the owner to move.
“Let’s be clear: these ‘jokes’ can have serious consequences and lead to charges such as criminal damage, disorderly or harassment behavior,” said Chandler’s police department in a message to the parents of the community. “Parents: take a moment to talk to your children. Know where they are, who they are and what they are doing.”
Police in Fort Worth, Texas, published a similar community message in May after receiving more than 20 complaints from young people who commit the “doors kick challenge.”
“It can be confused as an attempt to theft, which can cause dangerous or defensive responses of the owners …”, said Fort Worth Police Department in a statement. “What may seem like a joke can result in very real problems and/or dangers.”
